OPULENT MOBILITY

Articulated Foot Orthotics (AFOs) and most other mobility aids have a blunt, punishing aesthetic which has irked me since I started needing them. They are ugly and cumbersome and yet I need them. An AFO brace is prescribed to correct foot drop, a condition that affects walking and balance. This AFO conveys the high level of glamour and opulence that is possible for disabled people who use mobility aids, while also poking at the concept of high visibility and invisibility happening simultaneously.
